Cercis canadensis

“Forest Pansy” Unlike other Redbuds, the ‘Forest Pansy’ produces a wine coloured purple leaf in the spring after the  tiny, rose-purple, pea-like flowers bloom for 2-3 weeks in early spring (March-April). Then the heart-shaped leaves emerge as a glossy, vibrant ruby red and darken to a rich purple-plum shade for the summer. In autumn they turn varied shades of orange, red, yellow & purple. The autumn sun makes some leaves appear to be translucent whilst others reflect the light.                    2022
